How do I block apps?

Open Read to Unlock, go to the Blocked Apps section, and tap to add the apps you want to block. The app uses iOS Screen Time — you may be prompted to grant Family Controls permission the first time.

How does the daily reading goal work?

Choose a goal of 5, 10, 15, or 20 pages per day. Read that many pages inside the app, then answer 3 comprehension questions. Get at least 2 out of 3 correct and your blocked apps unlock until midnight.

What happens at midnight?

All blocked apps lock again at midnight. Each day is a fresh start — you need to complete your reading goal again to unlock them.

What is the comprehension quiz?

After reaching your page goal, you'll answer 3 questions generated by AI based on what you just read. You need 2 correct answers to unlock your apps. This confirms you actually read — not just scrolled through.

How do I upgrade to Pro?

Tap the Pro badge or upgrade prompt inside the app. Pro is available as a monthly ($4.99/month) or annual ($29.99/year) subscription. Pro unlocks the full book library, EPUB/PDF imports, more blocked apps, and flexible goal settings.

Can I import my own books? (Pro)

Yes. Pro subscribers can import EPUB and PDF files from Files app, iCloud Drive, or any compatible source. Go to the Library tab and tap the import button.

The app isn't blocking — what do I do?

Make sure Screen Time is enabled on your device (Settings → Screen Time). If it's your first time using Read to Unlock, open the app and follow the setup steps to grant Family Controls permission. If blocking still doesn't work, restart the app or contact us.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open the app, go to Settings or the Pro section, and tap "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to iPhone Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions → Read to Unlock → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
